Gutter, driveway and roof cleaning in Norwich

Norwich has some of the most distinctive roofs in the country. Red clay pantiles are everywhere, with black glazed pantiles on many older buildings and slate on plenty of Victorian terraces. All of them need a gentle method. Pressure washing a pantile roof can crack the tiles and wash out the mortar, so we scrape the moss off by hand and soft wash at low pressure with a biocide.

The city’s Victorian and Edwardian streets have small front gardens, shared paths and narrow side returns that stay in shade, and those green up fast. The suburbs and newer estates further out have bigger block-paved drives and concrete-tiled roofs. We clean all of them.

Norwich is about twenty miles from our base, straight along the A47. Send a couple of photos and we will give you a fixed figure for drives, patios and gutters. Roofs are quoted after a look at the property.

Why Norwich roofs and paths go green

A city of old roofs, leafy streets and shaded yards gives moss and algae plenty of places to settle.

Pantiles hold moss

The curve of a pantile traps moisture and debris along every lap. Moss roots there, lifts the edges and slows the water running off the roof.

Shaded streets

Tall terraces and mature trees keep back yards, side paths and north-facing roof slopes in shade, so they stay damp and grow algae all year.

Trees and gutters

Leafy streets fill gutters fast in autumn. Blocked gutters overflow down brickwork, and that is one of the most common causes of damp patches indoors.

Norwich questions

Do you cover all of Norwich?

Yes, the city and its suburbs. If you are on the Great Yarmouth side of the city, or along the A47 towards Acle, you are right on our route.

Can you clean black glazed pantiles?

Yes. Glazed pantiles get the same gentle soft wash as clay ones: moss removed by hand, then a low-pressure biocide treatment. High pressure puts the glaze and the tile underneath at risk.

How often does a roof need cleaning?

There is no fixed rule. Shaded and north-facing roofs green up fastest. Once a roof has been cleaned and treated, most people find it stays clear for several years.

Do I need to be at home?

Not necessarily, as long as we can get to the area we are cleaning. Most people like to walk round the finished job with us, so we will arrange a time that suits you.

How do I get a price for a Norwich job?

Send a couple of photos and a rough size. Drives, patios and gutters can usually be priced from that, and you get a fixed figure back. Roofs are quoted after a look at the property.
