Patio, roof and driveway cleaning in Bradwell
Bradwell is one of the biggest villages in Norfolk, with more than 11,000 people at the last census, and it runs straight into Gorleston. Much of it is newer housing, and newer estates mean block paving: front drives, side paths and patios laid in concrete blocks that look sharp for a few years, then slowly turn grey, green and patchy.
Block paving cleans up well when it is done properly. We pre-treat the worst of the growth, clean the whole area with a rotary flat cleaner so there are no stripes, and brush kiln-dried sand back into the joints once it has drained. Leaving the joints empty is what lets the weeds straight back in.
Past the edge of Bradwell, Belton and Burgh Castle are greener and more rural, with bigger gardens, more trees and more moss on roofs. Hopton-on-Sea, down the coast, gets the sea air. We cover all of them.
What we do in Bradwell
Driveways and patios are what most people in Bradwell ask about first, but every service covers the area.
What happens to paving around here
Block paving does not fail all at once. It goes in stages, and each one is easier to fix than the next.
Rain and frost slowly wash the sand out of block paving. Once the joints are open, weeds root in them and the blocks can start to move.
Algae turns the surface green, and black spot leaves dark flecks that a brush will not shift. Both need a treatment, not just water.
Gardens backing onto fields and trees in Belton and Burgh Castle drop leaves into gutters and keep patios in shade, so they green up faster.
Bradwell and Belton questions
Will cleaning damage my block paving?
Not when it is done properly. The damage you see on some drives comes from a bare lance held too close. We use a rotary flat cleaner at a set distance, and put the jointing sand back afterwards.
Do you re-sand the joints?
Yes, as part of the job. Once the paving has drained, kiln-dried sand is brushed back into the joints so they are full again.
Can you seal my driveway?
Sealing is available as an add-on once the surface has dried out fully. Ask when you book and we will include it in the quote.
Do you cover Belton, Burgh Castle and Hopton-on-Sea?
Yes, all three, along with Gorleston next door. They are a short drive from our base in Great Yarmouth, so same-week visits are usually possible.
Why has my drive gone green so quickly?
Shade, damp and open joints. North-facing drives, drives under trees and drives that stay wet after rain grow algae fastest. Cleaning removes it, and keeping the joints full and the surface clear of leaves slows it coming back.
