Roof, gutter and driveway cleaning in Gorleston

Gorleston is a real mix of properties. Up on the cliff-top and around the seafront there are tall Victorian and Edwardian houses with front steps, low garden walls and old brickwork that needs a gentle hand. Further back, Shrublands, the Magdalen estate and the roads out towards Bradwell are mostly post-war and newer homes, with concrete-tiled roofs and block-paved drives. Each needs a different approach, and we price each one that way.

What they all share is the weather. Damp air comes in off the sea and up the harbour mouth, and it keeps paving and north-facing roof slopes wet long enough for algae and moss to take hold. Drives near the front can also collect wind-blown sand in the joints, which is why we brush fresh sand back into block paving after cleaning rather than leaving the gaps open for weeds.

We are based just up the road in Great Yarmouth. Send a couple of photos and a rough size, and we will come back to you with a fixed price, in writing.

Why Gorleston drives go green

It is not neglect. A seaside town with tall terraces and old brick is about the easiest place there is for algae to grow.

Damp air off the harbour mouth

Sea air keeps surfaces damp for longer, and damp is all algae needs. Drives facing the sea, or tucked behind a wall, can stay wet well into the day.

Shaded side returns

Tall terraces cast long shadows. Paths down the side of the house and back yards that never see the sun are usually the greenest surfaces on the property.

Old brick and steps

Front steps, garden walls and old brickwork pit if they are hit too hard. We turn the pressure down and let a treatment do the work, so the surface is cleaned rather than worn away.

Gorleston questions

Do you cover all of Gorleston?

Yes, every part of it: the seafront and cliff-top, Shrublands, the Magdalen estate, the roads around the James Paget hospital and everywhere in between. Bradwell, Hopton-on-Sea and Burgh Castle are covered too.

How soon can you come out?

Gorleston is next door to our base, so same-week visits are usually possible, weather allowing. Autumn (for gutters) and spring (for drives and patios) are the busy times, so it is worth getting in touch early.

My house is on the seafront. Does it need cleaning more often?

Usually, yes. Homes facing the sea tend to green up faster. Most drives are fine with a clean every year or two, and gutters on the front are best cleared twice a year, in autumn and again in spring.

Can you clean old brick steps and garden walls?

Yes, carefully. Old brick and soft stone are cleaned at low pressure, with a treatment doing most of the work. Hitting them hard pits the face and opens up the joints, which costs more to put right than the clean saved.

What does driveway cleaning in Gorleston cost?

It depends on the size, the surface and how far it has gone, which is why we do not publish a price list. Send a photo and rough measurements and you will get a fixed figure back for the work described, not a range.
